The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering attracts towering figures in the field.


The calibre of its civil and environment engineering faculty is reflected in the fact that many of the School’s professors are appointed to the board of prestigious engineering journals worldwide. A number have won prestigious awards for achievements in their field of research.

The School is organised into three divisions: The Division of Environmental and Water Resources Engineering, Division of Infrastructure Systems and Maritime Studies, and Division of Structures and Mechanics.

The Civil Engineering curriculum equips its students with the professional knowledge and skills to excel as civil engineers.

The Environmental Engineering curriculum imparts knowledge, skills and capabilities in building and maintaining sustainable living environments. The School’s success in this has seen environmental science and engineering emerging as one of the core areas of excellence of the University.

The Maritime Studies curriculum equips its students with expertise in shipping, business and management, maritime science and technology.

Students at the School enjoy one of the best equipped and most comprehensive laboratories and facilities in Asia for teaching and research. This allows students to participate in pioneering research and development in up-and-coming niche areas.

Indeed, the School’s stellar achievements in research and development have contributed to Singapore’s emergence as a key environmental engineering hub in Asia.
