College of Engineering (Nanyang Engineering)

Nanyang Technological University (NTU) has its roots in Nanyang University which was first established in 1955 and re-established as Nanyang Technological Institute in 1981, until it was renamed Nanyang Technological University in 1991.

Engineering education has been at the core of the Institution’s purpose since its
re-establishment 27 years ago.

Set up with three pioneering Schools: The School of Civil and Structural Engineering, School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and School of Mechanical and Production Engineering, the Institution was singled out by the Commonwealth Engineering Council as “one of the best engineering institutions in the world” just four years after it was founded.

From an initial intake of 582 students, the engineering population grew more
than twentyfold over the next two decades.

In 2001, the College of Engineering was established through the amalgamation of five Schools. CoE was re-organised after NTU’s corporation in 2008. Today, the College is one of four colleges within the University and one of the world’s largest engineering colleges, home to six engineering schools, 16,000 students, 600 faculty and 1,200 staff.

The six constituent Schools of Nanyang Engineering are:

School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering
      School of Computer Engineering

School of Civil and Environmental Engineering
School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering
School of Materials Science and Engineering
School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering

The College enjoys a growing reputation for its multidisciplinary academic pursuits and research enterprises, achieved through constant diligence in striving for excellence and effective use of resources.
